Demerara Stables is a state-of-the-art, custom designed facility on Lauren’s home property. With features based on Lauren’s nearly three decades of experience working in stables across the country, every aspect of the stable was designed to keep your horse happy, healthy, and relaxed. The stalls were designed by Lauren to allow the horses to see and be close to each other, as they would be in a herd. As prey animals, allowing horses to live in a herd and see their surroundings greatly reduces their stress levels, which in turn reduces the incidences of colic and gastric ulcers.

Each 12x16 stall has a double-sized skylight and a Dutch door that opens to a grass pasture. The tops of the Dutch doors have safety glass windows so that in inclement weather, when the doors must be closed, the horses can still see outside. A high ceiling and large ventilation fan in the barn ensure heat and moisture can escape so that the horses are always breathing fresh air, even if the barn is closed in the winter. A wide aisle and a large hot and cold water wash rack with rubber pavers allows the horses to be moved around, groomed, and tacked up safely.

The tack room/lounge was well thought out to have plenty of space for storage and amenities, while providing a relaxing place to sit and look out on the lovely green hills behind the property. The tack room has gorgeous bridle and saddle racks from Andrew Nebbett Designs in England, which support the channel of your expensive saddle, so as not to compress the wool panels. There is a washer and dryer, a refrigerator, and a separate freezer with plenty of space for medications, ice boots, and beverages.

The stable and pastures are all viewable by Lauren 24/7, as there are multiple Nest cameras on the property, and the property is only accessible via a locked gate. The barn was built with fire-retardant roofing and siding materials, it has multiple smoke detectors, and it has a fire sprinkler system inside both the tack and feed rooms, and over the stalls.

Demerara Stables has a large (200’x135’) all-weather, irrigated arena with a full set of jumps and a Nest camera to video your rides. The arena is watered and groomed multiple times a week, to ensure the most consistent footing. The pastures and paddock are fenced with Centaur fencing, the safest fencing material on the market. Centaur fence is a non-electric, flexible polymer, embedded with three strands of 12.5 gauge high tensile steel wire. This design is virtually unbreakable, while being flexible, essentially eliminating fence-related injuries.

As if the facility wasn’t enough, we can guarantee that your horse will receive the best care in the Bay Area at Demerara Stables. In addition to Lauren’s training expertise, she has spent 6 years as a veterinary technician and many more years as a show groom, most notably in Wellington, Florida. Because Lauren lives on site, and the number of horses at Demerara Stables is small and limited, your horse will truly have individualized care. Horses are fed three times daily, stalls are bedded in deep shavings, and they are cleaned twice daily, seven days a week. Horses are checked at least three times a day for soundness and any injury or ailment, including a late night check.

Having your horse in training at Demerara Stables is a luxury experience at a reasonable price. Current and previous clients have referred to us as both the Ritz Carlton and the Taj Mahal! Check out more photos of the facility and the horses on our Instagram.
